nuvj-numark review

The software interface is just as easy and user friendly has the same look as the actual mixer. The mixer interacts with the interface so as you move stuff on the mixer the interface moves too. The program comes pre loaded with many different effects and visuals. This will allow you to get started immediately and add more later. The program also allows you to plug in an audio input so you can sink to an audio feed like a DJ. NUVJ also allows to a live feed from an external video source that can allow effects on top of the live video feed.
Although the program does play audio it does not have its own soundcard so I would personally just suggest sticking to visuals for this mixer. The program does accept other video and piture formats but Numark suggest sticking to the QuickTime photo-jpeg format although I have not had a problem.
The NUVJ is a good mixer for a beginner to novice experienced VJ. NUVJ has everything you need to get started and find out the style of VJ you want to be. Once you find your style I would suggest moving on to a program or setup that better suits you and where you are trying to go. The mixer alone is pretty solid and versatile. The NUVJ has a Jog wheel, fader, pitch slider and three to six knobs that control different visual effects.
Pros: Simple, yet powerful approach to VJing for any skill level. Works as a MIDI controller for other apps. Compatible with all QuickTime video formats (Mac and PC) and Windows Media formats (PC). Low cost but lots of potential. Syncs tempo to incoming audio.
Cons: No upgrade path to full ArKaos VJ software. No AC power supply included.
